Giving Back

We donate a portion of the business to NAMI - the National Alliance on Mental Illness. They are the nation’s largest grassroots organization for people with mental illness and their families. They’re doing much-needed work and introducing hope when all is hopeless – all I can aspire to do as well.

A Vision for a Better World

A little something you may or may not know about me is that I once had three jobs. That’s right! If you’d told me I’d have a candle-making business someday, I would’ve thought you were outta your mind! Truth be told, if you’d placed a candle in front of me at the time, I probably couldn’t have told you if it was the right way up, much less taken a sniff! Racing through my mind were pay checks, my babies, and keeping them well-fed with a roof over our heads.

And I’ll admit it, surviving wasn’t easy! When I could catch a thought, often, it’d be a thought of potential homelessness or worry for my little cubs. I learned then that the comfort of secure housing was an absolute must for everyone.

Introducing Vision House

At Vision House, they’re doing everything in their power to make surviving that little bit easier for families in need. By offering wonderful transitional housing with supportive services, their dedicated team prevents families from entering the shelter system. Even more impressive still is that they offer classes and training, giving families the best shot at future stability - breaking the cycle of homelessness for families with children.

And get this: during 2020 – an incredibly tough year on everyone – Vision House succeeded in procuring the comfort of secure housing for 192 individuals. That’s 120 kids, 60 moms, and 12 dads – beyond impressive.

Really, I can’t think of much more noble, respectable, and worthwhile than keeping families safe and free from undeserved worry. As the very building blocks of our world, families deserve only the best care! And as we know, we can all thrive mentally/physically when we feel safe, cared for, and supported! It’s really as simple as that.

And that’s why I’ve welcomed this Renton-based miracle working charity onto my list of endorsed charities. I fully believe that such amazing people can never get enough help or financing, but I’m going to do my bit to help them carry on their amazing work!
